How to define your why?
It’s seriously hard to write your Why. I am still writing mine. I am also actively living it out. I think you can live your why before defining it, and I don’t care if you don’t believe me. I will always, and have always, done it my way.
I did however write mine today, and it inspired me to share it with you. Ya ready? Here it is.
‘I inspire women to lead extraordinary lives, by their own definition, creating a ripple effect of wellness in their community.’
I wrote 20 leading to this in about 5 minutes. That’s on top of the past 3 years of trying to unpack a ‘why’ statement.
It was only in listening to Simon Sinek and Brene Brown speak on The Infinite Mind on Dare to Lead Podcast that it clicked.
Oh! I can make a grandiose statement that is basically unachievable! Thank you, because that’s the way my mind works already and I just needed permission to write what I thought.
Because if we’re being realistic, I am not going to ever know if I’ve succeeded in my WHY.
Understanding that the point is not necessarily to succeed, but to point the arrow in the right direction, helped me so much. Otherwise I thought I was just lying.
This is my dream statement, this is what I want most of all, this is my why.
Thanks Simon, thanks Brene, but thanks Leane for keeping on me about how important this is.
Whether I am leading at The Well, Inner Illume, or as a photographer, my why remains the same.
I want women to choose, to gather, to tell the truth, to break free, the very same thing I want for me.
