WellFed with City Girl Flower Farm
This September we hosted WellFed Harvest Dinner. It was a time of slow nourishment carefully curated with loving hands. We celebrated life, we harvested and shared parts of our lives, we took time to slow down distraction free.
We were blessed with amazing weather, if only we could do it again every week.
So until next time, let’s make room for others both in our spaces and our hearts.
I’d love to share an excerpt from Courtney’s welcome message, it was so beautifully thought out. Courtney is our team member who makes all the food for our amazing events.
This time of year is my favourite. The harvest season. The gathering of goods and sharing those goods with loved ones, neighbours and friends.
We can’t wait to share with you today.
What are you harvesting? What are you ready to give away? To share? What accomplishments have you not yet celebrated? We want to celebrate with you this evening. Of all the amazing things you have done, created and achieved.
I grew up gathering around a table that looked much like this. My grandmothers. All the farmers would come and gather after a long day in the field. My Grandma would spend her whole day in the kitchen. One meal blending into the next. Yet, she was always in the moment.
The stillness of the kitchen in a blink of an eye would fill with chatter, laughter and stories.
Let’s share some stories this evening. I encourage you to get a little uncomfortable. Feel free to say as much or as little as you like. Tonight is your night.
We traded in our cell phones for a cocktail, said no thanks to selfies, indulged instead in eye contact and our memories. We didn’t search up our favourite IG accounts to share and snap photos of the most amazing food. We simply enjoyed each moment and allowed ourselves to forget that someone may want to reach us.
For three hours we spent time honouring one another with attention.
We met new women, reclaimed old friendships, and hugged. So many hugs.
