3 ways you can support the women in your life.

I've been thinking a lot about how just showing up as we are is such a big part of being a woman and feeling confident. This week, I was reminded of this as I was part of a really exciting new project for a friend.  Merin Coutt’s is launching a new course for her business.  Women who are genuinely supportive of what she is doing, is an amazing gift.

Sometimes ‘women supporting women’ gets lost in the shuffle of a quick ‘like’  or a nice comment. I want to offer you a challenge, I’ve included some ideas below, to genuinely champion other women around you.

  • Send them a little note when you see something that they posted online that resonates with you and tell them that they're doing a great job.

  • Go out of your way to reach out when you see something that stands out through an old fashioned phone call.

  • If you find yourself looking at another woman’s success as a reflection of our failure, take steps to switch your mindset.

This past week at Merin’s photo shoot, I was reminded of how we are our worst critics and we see ourselves so differently from how most other people see us. Often, we miss the good people are saying about us simply be being unable to hear or understand.  We only hear the negativity and the noise, rather than the beautiful way people are standing around to support us.

Creating something new in your personal life or business, and going through all of the pain of the process that comes with it, is a really vulnerable thing to do.

  • What if people don't like what I'm putting out there?

  • How do I really show up?

  • How can I convey what I’m feeling in my heart, mind, body and soul and really capture this new venture?

I stood in awe as I watched Tammy take branding photographs of this group of women this week, knowing what this meant to Merin as she launches her new service. What a blessing to have all of the women present championing her.

We were asking questions about her new business because we genuinely wanted to know what it was all about. We were happy to be the faces of her campaign because we believe in her.

Tammy was roaming around the room, capturing these feelings in visual form, bringing this new service to life.

Being a part of a community is not just about gathering together, it is about:

  • belonging

  • showing up even when it's hard

  • going out of your way to shine your light on others

  • lifting them up while expecting nothing in return.

The paradox is that in lifting others up, your heart, mind, body and soul are filled beyond comprehension. Stepping further into yourself, and speaking your truth, is not for the weak of heart, but it is so rewarding. Your vulnerability allows others to do the same.

Allowing what other’s see of your life & business, to match your inner values and personality, is the most successful life I can imagine!
